Colress's "Notable Pokémon Sites on Neocities" List

Adapted from Twitter thread

Hello! The following is a list of 40 (!!!) sites here on Neocities, all focusing on or featuring Pokémon, with short blurbs on each! These sites vary wildly in design style, level of completion, frequency of updates, etc. - this list is simply something I felt would be interesting to put together! All that's required of a site for it to be here is that it caught my interest enough that I wanted to share it. Sites are listed in no particular order.

If you also find any of these sites interesing, I highly encourage you to share them in turn! Many of them have buttons to place on your own site if you have one, or you could simply share a link somewhere that your friends could see it. And if you happen to be a creator of one of these sites: thank you. Regardless of if your site is updated regularly or if it's been fully abandoned, thank you for making something and sharing it with the world. Thank you for loving Pokémon enough to create something out of it.

shadowshinys hideout - Personal logs on shiny collecting, nuzlockes, and various other aspects of the games. Includes a cute little about page with questions based off of the Gen V passerby survey!

Pokébattles Foxfire Version - Revival site for Pokébattles, a specific genre of parody fanfiction based on the style of narration for battles in the games. The site features an archive of old Pokébattles fanfiction, new battles written by the site owner, battles submitted to the site by other writers, and a network page with a Discord server and a few other sites for different "versions" of Pokébattles.

truebluefantasy's Nurse Joy shrine - A lovingly-crafted Nurse Joy shrine sub-site. Worth going through simply as appreciation for a passion project, this shrine is packed with canon-relevant information and fanworks alike, down to individual Nurse Joys per-location. Flashing note: Some scrolling images, blinkies, and the navigation markers are small but flash somewhat harshly.

Let's Find Pokémon! FOUND - Site dedicated to the Let's Find Pokémon! series of books, a Where's Waldo or iSpy-esque finding game with illustrations by Kazunori Aihara. Includes a chronological catalog by North American release date, as well as a list of books available on the Internet Archive and tips on how to obtain physical copies. Flashing note: Some larger flashing/animated gifs on the landing page, and smaller gifs on following pages.

pkmn breeder sam - Site mostly focused on the owner's creating of a living breeddex, but includes pages for a physical collection, hall of fame logs, shiny hunts, a nuzlocke, and even a guide for berry farming in X/Y.

random pkmn plush - Exactly as it says on the tin. Click the button for a random Poké-plush! Cute!

Porygon2 - Personal website under heavy construction. This one is really just here because it's heavily Porygon2-themed, as the name suggests, and I love that little thing. Flashing note: Rotating + scrolling Porygon. Background image is animated to scroll up slowly, could be disorienting?

lixydynavolt - Cutely-themed Pokémon fansite with a fanart gallery featuring works by the site owner and an under-construction Fakedex.

Pokémon Guardians - Website for the site owner's Pokémon fan story. Nothing much here yet, but worth keeping an eye on for Pokémon fanwork aficionados.

Pokémon Manga Directory - Directory of various Pokémon manga, including many with little information available. Simple but fascinating.

Kasumi - Archive of a fansite circa 2010-2011, revived by the owner from a backup. A wonderful little snapshot of fansites at the time, with links to various other fansites from the period (though many, if not most, are now defunct).

オタチ | Sentret & Furret (●ᐱ●)つ - In-progress database site for Sentret and Furret with extremely cute illustrations.

DittoDan's Ditto Collection - The collection site of a particularly passionate Ditto fan. Adorned with original artwork, the site features information on Ditto itself, research on merchandise, and an extensive collection of Ditto memorabilia dating from 1996!

Pamtre Berry - Fansite dedicated to recreating the minigames from the GBA and DS eras. Also includes a plush collection, a showcase gallery for submitted game results, and an article reviewing/ranking the Friend Areas from Red & Blue Rescue Team.

Ecruteak Forest - Site with various Pokémon articles, mostly focused on bootleg cartridges. Includes a subsite dedicated to cataloging bootlegs.

Gotchibam's Pokémon Doodle Archive - Another "as it says on the tin" site! An archive of the owner's Pokémon doodles, mostly done by request. Art in question features soft colors and stylization. Cute!

Pokémon Taxonomy - Fansite for classifying Pokémon into fanmade taxonomical categories. Created in December of 2023, so in early stages of construction. Utterly fascinating.

jamie's epic web zone - There are Porygon images across the top of the index page. You can move them! This site is a personal site that isn't particularly Pokémon-themed outside of visuals, but it goes here anyway. For Porygon. Flashing note: Main pages are somewhat gif-heavy, but nothing with strong flashing elements aside from blinkies further down the page. Does include a page with strong flashing (Sparkle Space), which is labled with a Javascript popup warning before entering.

Stareon's Hideout - Fansite dedicated to a Fakemon Eevee evolution, with little games and puzzles across the site.

Kinesis - In-character site dedicated to the care of Psychic-type Pokémon. This in-character worldbuilding type of site makes me so happy. :] Say hello to Wireduck for me while you're there.

Clefarchives - Fansite focused on documenting game and character lore as opposed to Pokémon themselves. Not much there at the moment, but an interesting project to keep an eye on.

Reality and Rebirth - A personal/fandom website with emphasis on Lego characters and Pokémon. Contains a "secret" Eevee subsite revolving around the owner's fanstory regarding a Trainer OC and a large cast of various Eevees.

Paisley's Park - Site dedicated to cataloging cosmetic items for PTCGO and PTCGL. Only the landing page is currently set up, but the concept is yet another interesting one. :]

Ruleset: Job-Locke - Site featuring an additional ruleset for Nuzlocke runs, in which each Pokémon is randomly assigned a "job" based on Final Fantasy jobs/classes. Each job has specific restrictions and/or abilities to make things more interesting.

johnjpokemon - Small site with charmingly amatuerish illustrations of the owner's party in little outfits, with each image linking to a short page with that Pokémon's information. Simple but cute!

MewHeart - Functional archive of the original MewHeart web resource site! Far from the only archive, but wonderful to look through all the same. Flashing note: "Update" markers in the navigation sidebar are small but flash somewhat harshly.

Garyland: A Pokémon Fansite for Adults - I couldn't possibly not put this here. Focused on the anime, it hosts episode reviews, major pages such as "James is Gay" and the shipping guide, all on a snazzy old-web theme revolving around Gary Oak. Definitely an obvious gem, you'll see its site button fairly often in Pokémon circles on Neocities.

tohjo falls - Site for logging the owner's progress on a 100% run of Pokémon Crystal. Also includes a page regarding custom consoles.

Beau's Poképalace - Logs of the owner's various game playthroughs, with team lists, a shinydex, and nuzlocke run records.

Mirage Island - A now-closed fansite focused primarily on Gens IV and V. Includes a guide on connecting to fan-run WFC servers to access now-unavailable Wi-Fi features in Gen IV and V games, locations of HeartGold & SoulSilver legendary Pokémon, and a few fun pages.

Gloomy's Web Zone - Charming site mimicking small fansites of the late 90's / early 2000's, down to dating certain pages with relevant past years. Features pages revolving around the owner's team of Pokémon and pages dedicated to old Pokémon rumors and such. Flashing note: Animated backgrounds on most pages, with strong flashing elements in the background of Raichu's page (tiled lightning animation).

neverhappy scrapbook - Website hosting the story of one little Budew, "NeverHappy", rescued from a used copy of Platinum. The owner details the journey of training, evolving, and eventually raising NeverHappy to the status of Ribbon Master. Very worth reading, both for the emotional and technical aspects. Note: do be careful of a section of part 2 (non-graphic, pointing out how a move used sounds like a creepypasta line referencing to self-harm).

eviolite: special pokéball 'mon list - Barebones website to be used as a catalogue for the owner's collection of Pokémon held in "unusual" Pokéballs. Another interesting catalogue concept, so it goes here.

KitschyMew - Mew-themed site with offsite llinks to various fancomics by the owner. Also includes pages with web assets and an in-progress showcase of Mew plushes in the owner's collection. Flashing note: Some animated backgrounds, especially notable on "About" page. Guestbook page has a fake malware alert to the left side.

Pokémon MV - Site hub for an AU fancomic. Includes links to character bios, webcomic chapters, and liveblogs of various Pokémon games (most hosted externally on Tumblr).

Ballonlea - Another in-character website! This time an informational side for Fairy-types, run by Bede as the Ballonlea Stadium Gym Leader. I love these.

Steel Type - Yet another in-character site! As titled, this one revolves around Steel-types and relevant in-universe information. Also features a Pokémon of the Month!

Nose Club - A Neocities mirror of noseclub.bluwiikoon.art, A wonderful little Nosepass-themed subsite. It hosts the site owner's Pokémon fanart and fanfiction, general art resources, and various articles on Nosepass, game mechanics, and more.

Silvally Plushie - Site with some fun spreadsheets and crossover tidbits (currently Pokémon teams for Kingdom Hearts characters).

Sammy Island - Small site with some web graphics (only blinkie bases so far), a page on the owner's history with the Pokémon franchise, and blog including musings on Pokémon.
